Hello, my name is Hyerin Kim. I am a front-end software engineer from South Korea who lives in Seoul.

I am excited to get a chance to introduce myself.

I am currently working as a full-time developer at a subsidiary of a US-based fintech company developing a scholarship platform. Previously, I worked as a developer on projects for Hyundai Motors, Seoul National University, and others. I have been working with React, SCSS, Vue, JavaScript, and Jest and have experience building and running A/B testing. I've also actively learned and participated in non-front-end tasks such as WordPress development, AWS administration, data extraction, and Nest.js backend development. As a developer, my non-technical strengths are communication and documentation. I enjoy being proactive and removing bottlenecks or difficulties for me and my coworkers to move things forward, and I enjoy writing, so I'm a consistent contributor to onboarding/development documentation. You can also check out my 2023 Peer Review to see how active I am. I am also interested in product and 3D development.

In college, I majored in philosophy and media communications. I studied to become a journalist while participating in external activities such as the institutional press corps, scholarships, school newspaper, and interning at the JoongAng Ilbo(one of the top 5 daily newspapers in South Korea). During this process, I was exposed to data journalism content. I became fascinated with web development, which led me to start my career as a front-end developer after studying at the Samsung Software Academy for Youth (SSAFY) for a year. In addition to web front-end technologies, I gained hands-on experience developing with React Native, WebRTC, Python data analytics, and other technologies during SSAFY. You can also check out my awards/projects from the SSAFY program in the LinkedIn link above. I graduated from Hanyang University in 2022 and have been studying at Korea Cyber University since 2023, majoring in Software Engineering.

As many of my colleagues have told me, I want to introduce myself as a developer who is constantly learning to become a better developer for my team. The most basic foundation of that endeavor is to continually look for improvements in my team's code and improvements in my code, remembering the Boy Scout principle and making the quality of my code better.

Thank you for taking the time to read this through.

Regards,

Hyerin Kim
